There are a number of organisations who work with people who have a learning disability to help them overcome barriers to work or education.

Barnet Mencap

This organisation, with an office in Barnet, offers information, individual advice and support for people with a learning disability.

Tamarisk Trust

Based in Barnet, this organisation provides basic skill training, CV and Interviews support; and support to go to College.

Youth and Connexions (up to age 25)

This service has specialist advisers who provide information and advice on careers and jobs for young people who have a learning disability.

JobCentre Plus

Each local Jobcentre has a Disability Employment Advisor (DEA) who can provide specialist advice for people with a learning disability on how to find work or gain new skills.

First Step Trust (FST) Barnet

Provides real work experience and employment opportunities for people with a disability

The National Bureau for Students with Disabilities (SKILL)

A national organisation promoting opportunities for young people and adults with any kind of disability in post-16 education, training and employment across the UK.
